Year 6 USA topic

We have had a really busy half term and have loved our USA topic. Our Forest School sessions have been fantastic in supporting our learning too, especially when we learned to make classic the American camp fire snack, s’mores. Children have had the privilege of having a visit from a specialist dance teacher who taught us some new line dance moves (so much fun) and have created some excellent art of American landmarks. Our Geography has focused in on Yellowstone National Park and we have created presentations about different geographical features. We have completed two English sequences, the first focused on survival skills and writing detailed instructions and the second has been an adventure story using Kensuke’s Kingdom as our model text.

Following our trip to Stonehenge next half term, we will be studying the Stone Age to Iron Age, particularly focusing on how their ‘inventions’ have impacted on life today and will be making some interesting comparisons between cave art and that of our class artist, Leonardo da Vinci. Our driving subject will be History and we will also be including Design and Technology.

Year 6 update

Year 6 attended the memorial in town. We will remember them.

Please come into class to see the fantastic Stonehenge models and our amazing ink drawings of horses (we compared prehistoric cave painting with the art of our class artist Leonardo DaVinci). We have been working so hard learning all about how prehistoric ideas and inventions have influenced life today.
