Our Vision

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

A school to be proud of, a school that encourages, a school that inspires

At Colyton we are a kind and happy school. We encourage and inspire every individual to aim high and reach further.

We want our students to be the best that they can be and to believe that they are capable of doing anything that they set their mind to. We want them to be proud of their achievements and the journey that they go on to get there.

We work in partnership with our community to help every individual develop the skills needed to embrace their future and to help them to be well prepared for life in Modern Britain.

Children at Colyton are encouraged to be active learners by being inquisitive, motivated and resilient learners. Our curriculum is tailored to the needs of all children and is aspirational, inspirational, challenging, enjoyable and enriching. It is designed to inspire children and learning is tailored to their interests.

Our Colyton Core values underpin everything we do.

Our core values are:

- Confidence

- Collaboration

- Creativity

- Craftsmanship

- Curiosity

- Communication

- Commitment

We also value honesty and teach children to be respectful and considerate to all.

We encourage them to take risks, use their initiative and be responsible for their learning. Pupils are happy, safe and secure, have a positive attitude and a thirst for learning. There is a sense of respect for and between all individuals regardless of race, religion, age and gender and for themselves.  Pupils are well-behaved, kind and considerate towards others.

At Colyton we want children to have the confidence to achieve their very best and to go on to succeed in their future lives. We aim to support them to be able to communicate effectively and to be socially and emotionally developed in order to cope with the ever-changing world. It is also imperative that they understand the importance of being fit, healthy and know how keeping themselves safe so that they can make the right choices for life.

We aim to expose all pupils to a wide range of experiences and opportunities to enhance their education and childhood and help them grow into well-rounded successful confident individuals. These include visits to museums, galleries and theatres. Residential trips, forest schools, cookery, gardening, enterprise projects, performing arts activities are all some of the experiences that children will be involved in.
