  • Trip to the cricket

    Some of our year 3,4 and 5 children spent a day at Taunton watching Western Storm vs South East Stars. 

     

    We all had a great day enjoying the cricket. The children were able to get some autographs of the players, take part in some fun activities and watch some professional sport. 

  • School Council Kit On the Playground!

    The School Council have been working on a project to improve the playground equipment. They held a cake and toy stall sale raising £186 and the FAFA team topped it up for us. Look at the equipment they chose with a more environmental theme in mind. Well done School Council! 

  • Year 3 & 4 Play

    Years 3 and 4 have been performing on stage their play. Pirates V Mermaids has been a great success and all of the staff are proud of the children for their dedication to learning their lines and drama skills.

  • Fire Safety Visit

    Year 2 were visited by Devon Fire Service where they learnt about ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’, the importance of testing fire alarms (the class came up with 'Test it Tuesdays' as a way to help remind parents) and all the different responsibilities of the fire service.

    We had great feedback about the group as they asked lots of great questions and showed super enthusiasm. Well done!

  • Steam Railway Trip

    Years 3 and 4 have been learning about the industrial revolution in their history lessons. Today we took a trip on a steam train to see what it might have been like to travel in such an exciting way. The day also included a crossing on the river boat to Dartmouth so that we could visit the Newcomen engine. This was the world's oldest surviving steam engine!

  • Festival of Metacognition

    Mrs Mills and Mrs Evans travelled to Birmingham to present at the a national conference 'The Festival of Metacognition' hosted by Thinking Matters. Great feedback and response to all the amazing work that the staff and children have done. We were super proud of ourselves! Go Colyton.

    This week year 3 and 4 performed their play Dragon Days!

    What a performance - the West End is calling! It was phenomenal! Well done the year 3/4 children and team of teachers.

    Celebrate International Women's Day by looking at some splendid artwork inspired by female artists. This was a joint project with other schools in the East Hub of the First Federation Hub.

  • Years 5 & 6 design new race cars!

    As part of our year 5 & 6 science unit about 'Forces' we were visited by Gemma Benson who works in the motor racing industry. We learnt all about how cars are really streamlined to ensure there is minimal air resistance and they can go super fast! The children then designed their own race cars. Thank you to Mrs Benson for giving up her time to help us.
